    Fully featured software

    Date: May 08 2024

Summary: Love this software and how quick and easy it is to create small reference snippets to guide my team visually in how to use a particular piece of software for things like new user training, or just a refresher. Because of the visual medium, it's not always necessary for me to capture audio, but it's very easy to add call outs where necessary if you want to highlight a button or action.

Positive: - Easy to capture areas
    - Easy quick edits (call outs)
    - All project files are in one place
    - The quick capture bar is nice to use and tells you what's turned on and being captured and what isn't

Negative: - Can take a while to export (but that's true of any product really)
    - Editing audio takes a little bit of getting used to (but once you figure it out, it makes sense)
    - Haven't worked out how to capture audio from my M1 Mac (worked on my Intel Mac but haven't honestly invested too much time into capturing system audio)

    Manager, Training and LD

    Date: May 07 2024

Summary: I have been using Camtasia for over 20 years. From what it was when they started to now, there has been a tremendous improvement to make it easier to use, more professional in appearance (especially the final product once produced) and still remain an economical option. I used to get looks like I was crazy to use Camtasia when I would bring it up at industry conferences. Now, I am ahead of the pack as more and more people are using it.

Positive: Very easy to use, has great assets to work with. The part that I have enjoyed the most is the constant work to improve the software so that it is on par with programs like Final Cut Pro. Still not completely there yet, but when looking at cost and ease of use, I will take Camtasia any day.

Negative: As with any software, it seems like when a major update or new version of the software is released, there are some hiccups. Luckily, they are good to get those fixed and a new, better update sent to the users.

    Performance, Price, Powerful

    Date: May 06 2024

Summary: I use Camtasia daily in combination with other Authoring tools to develop eLearning courses. It is very easy to use and produces high-quality content. The certification course provides training for users and there are plenty of resources available to develop a user from beginner to expert.

Positive: Reasonable price, multi-use, user-friendly, certifications/training, multiple export options, beginner to advanced usage. In short, you can use Camtasia to do simple things or advanced things. I find it helpful to create eLearning courses along with other Authoring tools. They also continuously improve and update the software.

Negative: I like everything and use it every day to develop eLearning courses.

    Great video maker

    Date: May 03 2024

Summary: I think Camtasia is a great software and I prefer it too more expensive video editing softwares like Premiere. I mainly use it for making instructional videos, I believe you can use it for a variety of purposes.

Positive: Very easy to use. Lots of training resources to help you use the software better. Easy to export files and share among colleagues. Easy to make high quality videos in little time.

Negative: Software occasionally has some weird quirks with audio. If you need to cut or rearrange a video you've already created, it can be cumbersome. There is a slight learning curve so it's not exactly a jump in and use right away software if you've never used video editors before.

Does what I need and a whole lot more

    Date: May 02 2024

Summary: I've enjoyed the product overall. The learning curve has a few bumps. Mostly, it was pretty smooth. I'd recommend the product.

Positive: I've found Camtasia fairly straightforward to use. As a Baby Boomer, I'm not quite as tech-savvy as my younger counterparts. With Camtasia, I've found that what I don't know I can find out fairly easily.

Negative: The files do take up quite a bit of hard drive space. I guess that's par for the course. I do feel like I get asked to upgrade quite a bit for free only to find out there's a time limit on that free.

    My go-to Video Software

    Date: May 02 2024

Summary: I use it every day with very little issues at all. Simple to use, and effective. Makes pro looking output.

Positive: I love the simplicity of the of the software, especially the cut and paste workflow. I have access to virtually every video software, but this one is so simple, but makes pro output.

Negative: Could use webM compatibility. Would like a feature to merge files that have had segments cut out to handle them as one file.

It meets the basics to make videos professionally.

    Date: Apr 06 2023

Summary: It has worked quite well for me in creating video and screenshot videos that are informative, engaging and professional. It is easy to use for beginners and powerful enough for experts. It has many features and assets that can help you create the videos you need with minimal effort and time. It is also compatible with both Windows and Mac platforms, which is convenient for cross-platform users. For my recommendation this platform is very useful for anyone who needs a video and screen capture software that can do more than just record your screen. Whether you're a teacher, trainer, marketer, or content creator, Camtasia can help you create videos that communicate your message effectively and impressively.

Positive: Camtasia has a powerful and versatile video editor that allows you to edit your recordings with drag and drop ease. You can trim, split, trim, zoom, pan, rotate, or speed up your clips, as well as add transitions, annotations, animations, effects, subtitles, quizzes, and more. You can also use pre-built video templates or create your own custom templates to save time and ensure consistency.

Its interface is simple and intuitive that makes it easy to record from your screen, webcam, microphone, or any other audio or video source. You can also import PowerPoint slides, images, videos, or other media files to enhance your recordings.

Camtasia has a huge library of royalty-free assets that you can use in your videos, such as music tracks, sound effects, icons, backgrounds, motion graphics, and more. More assets can also be accessed with a subscription to TechSmith Assets for Camtasia.

The screenshot function is of high quality that records the screen in Full HD resolution with smooth frame rates. One can also adjust the capture area, resolution, frame rate, audio settings, cursor effects, and more before or during recording.

Being able to export is really flexible and reliable that allows you to produce videos in various formats and sizes for different platforms and devices. Videos produced on this platform can also be shared directly to YouTube, Vimeo, Google Drive, Screencast.com or other online destinations.

Negative: Camtasia is not cheap software. It has a high cost for a single user license, with an optional renewal fee per year to get the latest updates and support, these options should be considered when purchasing this platform if it is profitable to pay for updates.

Camtasia may not be suitable for advanced video editing or animation projects that require more sophisticated tools and effects. It's primarily designed for screenshots and how-to videos that don't need a lot of editing or post-production.

Camtasia can sometimes experience bugs or crashes that can affect recording or the editing process. I advise saving your work frequently and checking for updates regularly to avoid losing your progress or data.

Great video editor...and great that it's a one time payment!

    Date: Jun 19 2022

Summary: I love using this for making videos into something special for youtube, with a nice intro, and editing out awkward parts. Like anything, there's a learning curve, but it's great once you get the hang of it.

Positive: Subscriptions can eat a business alive...I miss software that can be paid as a one-time payment - and thank goodness Camtasia is one of those softwares. Much smoother than iMovie.

Negative: It takes a fairly powerful processor, and even on my M1 iMac, it crashes occasionally, but that's video editing for ya (at least for a civilian like me...I'm not an editing pro).

    Great product with great features

    Date: May 04 2024

Summary: My experience using this software has been very positive, and it is definitely my go-to for video creation and edit. I use Camtasia on a PC with a large monitor. I have also used the integrated app to capture media via mobile.

Positive: I have been using Camtasia to create and edit video for adult education items, and I've found the software easy to use. The tutorials are helpful, but it's also quite easy to do go about it through trial-and-error. I particularly like the ease of inserting media and adjusting placement. You can edit at the frame level to get the timing perfect.

Negative: One thing I've noticed is that the software lacks some of the "trendy" effects that are popular in other editing platforms, such as sparkles, glow-up, and shimmer. I also would like greater options for captioning.

Very Good Video Recorder & Editor

    Date: May 03 2024

Summary: Overall, I'm happy with Camtasia and I plan on continuing to renew my maintenance agreement. Over the past eight years or so, I've created about 500 videos and Camtasia is still the tool I use the most because I know exactly what it will do and I can access that functionality quickly.

Positive: Camtasia is a well designed product - there are many useful features and the interface is intuitive, very easy to use. The price is very good and the support, although rarely used or needed, has been excellent. I realize this is not a Snagit review however, the majority of videos I create include images I have captured and/or edited using Snagit.

Negative: I also use another video editor that is similarly priced and it has a few useful features that I wish were included with Camtasia. When using many tracks in Camtasia, the display, arrangement, and grouping of multiple tracks could be improved. The only other improvement I would like to see is a reduction in the time it takes to boot up - this averages about 40 seconds (and I am using a very fast CPU & video card and 64GB of RAM).
